See the Difference: What Makes Nashville Unique
Nashville — Athens of the South to Music City
Nashville’s uniqueness can’t be summed up in a short blurb, but certain landmarks are just so one of a kind. The city’s life-size replica of The Parthenon shines majestically with lights. There’s just no denying … it’s got unique Nashville written all over it. Yes, it’s right near a McDonald’s and one speaks royalty and the other does not.
This architectural clone or life-size replica arrived in Nashville in 1897 for Tennessee’s Centennial Exposition. Nashville was then considered the Athens of the South. Fitting, then, for this replica of Athens’ important architectural landmark to arrive here.
Landmarks and streets — the booming music scene
Nashville’s uniqueness doesn’t end there. Lower Broad (Broadway) definitely falls into the unique category with its honkey-tonk soul and countless music venues. Some even call it Honky Tonk Highway. Groovy places to visit include Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Legends Corner, Second Fiddle, The Stage, Layla’s Bluegrass Inn and Robert’s Western World. Famous country artists have gotten their start here and you never know what talent is looming around the corner.
Music Row is unique to Nashville as well with its music-related businesses grouped together. You might catch a glimpse of somebody famous on their way into a recording studio! You can take a tour of Music Row in many different ways as well as a tour of the RCA studio where Elvis recorded.
The Ryman as unique, historical stage
Want to be in the spot of the world’s longest running radio broadcast? The Ryman, known as the Mother Church of Country Music, is where so many great country artists have performed. Though the new Grand Ole Opry in a separate location has a circular piece of the Ryman stage imbedded in its stage, the original Ryman has a charm and constancy which is unmatched.
Visit their website for all you want to know about the history of the Ryman Auditorium.
The Country Music Hall of Fame … yet another unique attraction, educates visitors on the lives of Nashville’s country music greats in an in-depth, narrative format. A Dierks Bentley exhibit is currently on display.
You say tomato, I say Nashville’s Tomato Art Fest
Nashville, TN also offers events unlike any other. Take, for example, the Tomato Art Fest in East Nashville. With hipster written all over it, this event is like no other, featuring 2,000 square feet of floor to ceiling art with tomatoes being the object portrayed.
