Day Tour to Elvis’ Birthplace in Tupelo: $182.50 per person min 2 (adult or child).
These places include Lawhon Elementary School, Johnnie’s Drive- In, Tupelo Hardware and the Shake Rag neighborhood. Usually you will eat lunch (not included in the price) at Johnnie’s Drive-In and step inside Lawhon Elementary (with permission of the school officials). You will go inside Tupelo Hardware which is owned and managed by the same family who founded the store. You will stop for lunch at Johnnie’s Drive-in, a favorite of Elvis’ and maybe you will be lucky enough to sit in the same seat Elvis used. You will visit Priceville Cemetery, where Elvis’s twin brother, Jesse Garon, who died at birth, is buried.
You will also stop at the larger than life statue of Elvis’ 1956 Homecoming Concert at the Tupelo Fairgrounds was based on a famous shot called “the Hands” by Roger Marshutz. Facing east toward his Tupelo birthplace, the statue is poised for a perfect photo op with Tupelo City Hall standing behind his right shoulder and Tupelo Hardware visible over his left shoulder. The statue stands on the site of the old fairgrounds where the concert took place
Tour begins with hotel pick-up at 7:30 am. Return to Memphis and your hotel by 3:00 pm.
