Natchez 3 Night Mystery Tour

Itinerary

  • Day 01
    • Afternoon arrival. Go to the Natchez Welcome Center & see a 20-minute film about Natchez. Then local tour guides will take the group on a brief city tour before checking into the hotel.
    • 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Classical Concert Social at Stone House where you will sip your wine or mint julip while relaxing to music of Bach, Chopin, Schubert, Brahms and other great masters played on the 1903 Steinway grand piano. After concert a house tour is included.
    • 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm Travel to Monmouth Plantation where you will enjoy a candlelight five-course gourmet dinner served in the Mansion. Daily menus incorporate regional favorites that showcase Monmouth’s fabulous contemporary southern cuisine.
  • Day 02
    • 9:00 am - 11:00 am Natchez Cemetery Tour. For almost two centuries people of all nations, races, and creeds have been interred in the 100-acre cemetery. Extraordinary citizens- military heroes, politicians, physicians, builders, bishops, and artisans-share their final resting places with thousands.
    • 11:00 am - 12:30 pm Natchez in Historic Photographs Tour. The World’s most important and unusual collections of historic photographs. Representing the work of three photographers, the pictures tell the story of a small Southern town on the Mississippi River from the Civil War era to World War II. More than 500 photographs hang on the walls at beautiful Stratton Chapel, with captions to take the visitor on a journey both poignant and entertaining
    • 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm Lunch on your own
    • 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Tour of Longwood House. ca. 1860-1861. Lower Woodville Rd. The grandest octagonal house in America. Superb example of mid-19th century Oriental style. Designed for Haller and Julia Nutt, it retains original furnishings. Finial atop dome was reconstructed in 1993 by the Pilgrimage Garden Club. National Historic Landmark.
    • 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm Free time for rest or downtown shopping
    • 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Walking Ghost Tour of Natchez. Take an exciting evening stroll and enjoy the darker side of antebellum Natchez. Walk the streets where passions, wealth, and evil once collided. The guided ghostly tours take you through the beautiful historic district of Natchez.
    • 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm Enjoy dinner at King’s Tavern. Dining with a story. In this historic building you can enjoy cuisine from fried shrimp to Prime Rib.
  • Day 03
    • 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Frogmore Cotton Plantation tour of an 1800-acre working cotton plantation with gins, slave row and 19 dependencies. Contrast a working cotton plantation of the early 1800’s with a modern cotton plantation and gin of today. Listen to the slave customs, secret music, and their surprising relationships with the master, mistress, and overseer. Walk through authentically furnished slave quarters, rare steam gin, and other plantation dependencies.
    • 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm Lunch on your own
    • 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Tour of Rosalie House. ca. 1820. Located on the Mississippi Bluff near the site of the Natchez Indians' massacre of the French at Fort Rosalie. It was the headquarters of the Union Army during the War Between the States. Owned by the Mississippi State Society DAR. A National Historic Landmark.
    • 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm Free time for rest or downtown shopping
    • 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Southern Ceremonies & Celebrations in the 1800’s where you will visit three Antebellum structures which are celebrating 3 ceremonies of a time gone by. At Stanton Hall, prepare for the wedding of a daughter. Magnolia Hall, pay your respects on the day of Mr. Henderson’s funeral. Holy Family Catholic Church, become a part of the African American congregation and join in celebrating the founding of their church.
    • 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm Tonight enjoy dinner at Cock of the Walk where good eats overlooking the Mississippi. Feast on Catfish, Chicken & good ole veggies while listening to the tunes on the piano.
  • Day 04 (Nov 11 & 18)
    • 9:00 am - 11:00 am Tour Auburn House. ca. 1812. This imposing mansion set in the midst of Duncan Park is famous for its architecture and its beautiful free-standing stairway unsupported to the second floor. Owned by the City of Natchez and operated by the Auburn Garden Club. National Historic Landmark.
    • 11:00 am Check-out of hotel & depart for home.
