Tour Descriptons

Graceland & Sun Studio 7 hour Tour ($72 per person, Sat, Feb 24, 7:45 am - 3:00 pm) - This high-energy musical tour traces the life and career of one of the most popular entertainers of all time, Elvis Presley. Visit Graceland, the home of the King of Rock n’ Roll and Sun Studio, considered by many as the birthplace of Rock n’ Roll. Your Sweet Magnolia professional tour guide will meet your group at the Grand Casino hotel to take you on an exciting adventure to Memphis, “Home of the Blues and Birthplace of Rock ‘n Roll.” Your audio tour of Graceland Mansion is full of music and interesting stories about how Elvis lived in the home he loved so much. You will see the largest privately owned collection of gold records in the world and Elvis' elaborate stage costumes and jewelry. The mansion tour ends with a quiet visit to Meditation Garden where Elvis and members of his family are buried. On the Platinum Tour you will see Elvis' famous 1955 pink Cadillac in the Elvis Presley Automobile Museum and climb aboard his custom jet the "Lisa Marie." And tour the Sincerely Elvis Museum. Graceland plaza also offers fabulous shopping and restaurants. In 1954 Elvis Presley recorded “That’s All Right Mama” at Sun Studio establishing the studio at the birthplace of Rock n 'Roll. Today the studio, where Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Rufus Thomas, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, and many others launched their careers, is open to the public for tours daily while still operating as a studio by night. At Sun your will explore a museum/gallery featuring hundreds of rare recordings, memorabilia, photographs, and vintage recording equipment.

A Day in the Delta: Holly Springs Antebellum Tour ($85 per person, Sat, Feb 24, 7:45 am - 3:00 pm) - The Mississippi Delta’s earliest storytellers posed a similar trait that is detected in the classic writings of southern-based native authors, such as, William Faulkner, Eudora Welty, “Tennessee” Williams and in the contemporary writings of John Grisham. It is a sense of place and a devotion to the traditions of it past. Nowhere in the South are these traditions more evident then in small southern Mississippi towns. Today as you travel through the rural countryside on your way to Holly Springs you will see historic farms and small towns that are an important element of the Delta’s culture and architecture. From barns and cotton gins, to dog trot houses with breezeways to cool its residents, some of the distinctive designs reflecting plantation life in the Delta is still coloring the landscape.

When you arrive in Holly Springs, named for the cool clear springs and 40-foot tall Holly trees, abundant in this lovely little Delta town, you will continue your adventure at the historic First Presbyterian Church. This was the first religious organization to be formally established in Marshall County. The present structure, the fourth to be built by this congregation, was built in 1860. This church is a magnificent monument to the skill of Mississippi slave craftsmen as it was built largely by slave labor. In 1862 Ulysses S. Grant occupied Holly Springs and its Presbyterian Church. Horses were stabled downstairs, and stacked kegs of gunpowder desecrated the sanctuary above.

Your next stop will be at the (4) acre estate, of Walter Place & Gardens. This historic antebellum mansion served as a temporary home for General Ulysses S. Grant’s family. Grant stayed in Memphis at the Hunt Phelan Home planning the battle of Vicksburg while his wife and children stayed in Holly Springs at Walter Place. A guided tour of this fine mansion, the gardens and guesthouses is included.
Noon Lunch to will be a delicious Southern Buffet at Annie’s. If we are lucky, Miss Annie will break free from her kitchen duties to sing a gospel song for us. If not we will sing anyway! Following lunch you will have one more stop before departing Holly Springs. Hill Top Mansion is one of Holly Springs most popular historic homes owned by an antique dealer who has furnished this home with the finest collection of period antiques in the state of Mississippi.
